What Work Goes Into Making a Plasma 5 Theme?I thought I'd tell you all what work goes into making a Plasma 5 theme, you might be surprised how much work it actually is. In some ways, Plasma 5 requires less work than 4 because of the more unified elements, however some elements like the tasks on the panel require more work and here's why. Like the panel used to be in Plasma 4, each task(normal, minimised, hover, attention, focus) has to fit proper on all 4 panel edges of the screen (this actually makes designing themes more flexible but require more work). So each of those 5 task states require all 4 panel edges, which means I have to make 20 tasks to fit the panel edge orientation. Most of the time it's just copy paste, twist the task element around and just rename all the elements. Also, each task element has 9 elements of it's own(top, right, bottom, left center, top right, top left, bottom left and bottom right) so as you can see, that's a lot of elements to make from scratch just for the Plasma tasks alone. Well, most of it:
The biggest change in 15.04 is probably the switch from Upstart to systemd, we all remember the whole controversy over that. LibreOffice 4.4 was included in this release too:
I decided to open a bunch of random stuff to see what happened:
